Apple, a company that gave us the iPod, iTunes, iPhone, MacBook, iPad and many other devices that have set the trends for consumer electronics is about to turn 40.
On this occasion, Apple considered it fair to be self-indulgent and take a look at the 40 years of products in a series of flashing text for 40 seconds to start the event.
Opening the special event, Apple CEO, Tim Cook addressed the first thing on everyone’s mind -- their feud with the FBI.
Moving on, the first thing Apple reminded us was how green they were. Talking about their efforts to save the environment, Apple introduced us to Liam -- a robot that separates all the components of an iPhone to make recycling it a breeze. Apple also announced that they had reached a point where more than 90% of the paper and electricity they use across the world come from sustainable sources.
Apple doesn’t just want to meet the needs of the average Joe. With the newly announced CareKit and existing ResearchKit, they have made health and wellness app for those diagnosed with Parkinsons. The app is open to researchers who have been using to conduct more intensive studies on ailments that can be handled better with future apps similar to this one.
Apple also slashed the price of what they claim is the most selling smartwatch on the market -- Apple Watch -- to $299.
The came the announcement everyone had been waiting for, the iPhone SE. It has all the features of the flagship iPhone 6s series except for 3D touch in the body of an iPhone 5s. And yes, it’s available in rose gold.
The latest iPhone SE will be available from Rs 30,000 in India by early April.
There’s a new iPad Pro on Apple’s roster and it has a 9.7-inch screen like the iPad Pro. It also comes in rose gold and an optional 256 GB of storage -- largest of any iOS device.
The new iPad Pro retail at Rs 49,900 from early April.
The biggest announcement however, was that of Apple’s operations could shift to their new Campus as soon as 2017.
