Apple’s latest offering - the iPhone SE - could be deemed as a true upgrade to the iPhone 5s. Aimed at emerging markets like India and for users who are not really comfortable with large sized phones. According to Apple, its the most powerful phone with a 4-inch display. Just like the iPhone 5s, it gets a 4-inch display, though there’s a lot going on than what meets the eye.

Here are the top ten features of the iPhone SE:

The smartphone’s design aesthetics are infact very identical to the iPhone 5S. The power button sits on the top, volume rockers can be found on the left edge and the headphone jack sits at the bottom. It has all the attributes of a perfect phone designed for one-handed use – something rather hard to find given the recent boom of plus sized devices.

Retina Display

Despite the small screen size, Apple hasn’t compromised on the display quality on the iPhone SE. The smartphone still retains the company's proprietory Retina display technology boasting a resolution of 1136x640 pixels which amounts to an impressive pixel density of 326ppi.

12-megapixel iSight Camera

It gets the same impressive 12-megapixel iSight camera as the one found on the iPhone 6s. Capable of 4k video recording and the ability to capture Live Photos. For selfies, there’s a FaceTime HD camera which uses True Tone flash.

The smartphone also gets support for Apple’s personal digital assistant Siri, that lets you interact with the phone without pressing any button. Want to make phone calls, schedule a meeting or book a room at your favourite holiday destination, Siri will be at your service.

Processing power

It also gets the same processing power of the flagship iPhone 6s with an A9 processor and M9 motion coprocessor bundled with 2 GB of RAM. Apple claims the new iPhone SE has twice the CPU power and three times the GPU power compared to the iPhone 5s.

Health App

The inclusion of a Health app on the iPhone SE lets you keep track of your daily activity levels. Users will be able to track distance covered, count steps and more with the smartphone to get vital health statistics.

NFC Support

The latest iPhone SE also gets NFC support, which means you can use Apple Pay contactless payment service wherever contactless cards are accepted, without the need to take the phone out of your pocket.

Live Photos

iPhone SE supports also Apple’s Live Photos, a feature introduced with the company’s last year flagship line-up that allows users to turn short video clips of photos they click. The feature records videos 1.5-seconds before and after a photo is clicked using an iPhone SE, 6S and 6S Plus.

Comes with the new iOS 9.3 pre-installed

The final version of iOS 9.3 was also announced alongside the iPhone SE. The latest version of iOS brings some neat features such as Night Shift, new additions to CarPlay and added security features. Besides, iOS 9.3 also fixes a critical security flaw in iMessages.

Rose Gold colour option

The latest iPhone SE also gets the same set of colours synonymous of the iPhone lineup which include Space Grey, Silver, Gold and also gets a Rose Gold option.

Apart from iPhone 6S and 6S Plus, iPhone SE is the only other Apple smartphone to feature the new rose gold colour option that the company debuted last year.

The iPhone SE will be available in space grey, silver, gold and rose gold metallic finishes in 16 GB and 64 GB models starting at Rs 39,000 from Apple Authorised Resellers and select carriers and goes on sale starting April 8 in India.
