The sequel to the gorgeous Huawei P8 is almost inevitable. Rumors of the upcoming device which will likely be called the Huawei P9 are already starting to gather. Now a recent leak suggests that the smartphone is scheduled to launch on April 6 and goes on sale starting April 9, according to credible tipster Evan Blass (@evleaks). Notably, the April 9 release date is also reportedly in line with the Huawei P8 release date last year.
In addition, the company has also sent out media invites for an event to be held in London on April 6. The invite reads “Change the way you view the world” which suggests the upcoming flagship might indeed sport a dual-camera steup. In addition, there are two circles on top of the invite which also lead us to believe that the device might get more than one camera sensor.
If this turns out to be correct, it won’t be the first time Huawei has dabbled into a dual-camera setup, since it uses the same technology on the Honor 6 Plus. Renders of the Huawei P9 surfaced online last week, which confirm the smartphone’s dual-camera setup. The renders also show a circular fingerprint scanner housed on the back below the dual-camera setup. However, the phone’s final design still remains unconfirmed as two separate batches of the handset’s leaked renders appeared online, with the other one showing a square fingerprint scanner instead of a circular one.
Though rumours have been pretty consistent with the smartphone’s internal specifications. The Huawei P9 is expected to sport a 5.2-inch full-HD display, the company’s in-house octa core Kirin 950 processor bundled with 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, 3600mAh battery capacity and 12-megapixel primary camera with a dual-lens setup featuring Leica optics.
In addition, rumours also suggest that there’ll be a premium version of the handset featuring a 6.2-inch screen featuring a 2k resolution, a Kirin 950 processor bundled with 4GB of RAM, 64 GB of storage and a 4,000mAh battery.
The Huawei P9 is rumored to get a price tag of $289 ( Rs 19,466 approx), while its premium variant is expected to sell around $627 (Rs 42,210 approx)
