Indian handset maker Intex on Tuesday launched a new budget smartphone, ELYT e6. Priced at 6,999, the new smartphone comes with Android 7.0 Nougat and 4G VoLTE support. It will be available via Flipkart starting December 15.

Intex ELYT e6 comes with a 5-inch HD display with 2.5D curved glass on top and Asahi Dragontrail glass protection. It is powered by a MediaTek quad-core processor coupled with 3GB of RAM. It has 32GB of built-in storage, expandable up to 128GB via a microSD card.

The smartphone has a 13-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front-facing camera. Other key feature of the smartphone is a 4,000mAh battery which is claimed to deliver a stand-by time of more than 12 days. It also supports OTG.

"Our special 'ELYT' series launched this year has been well received in the market and going with the consumers' response we have launched 'ELYT e6' model, designed for the online platform (exclusively on Flipkart) for tech savvy youth," Nidhi Markanday, Director, Intex Technologies, said in a statement.

Intex ELYT e6 vs Xiaomi Redmi 5A

Intex ELYT e6 will compete with Xiaomi's latest budget smartphone, Redmi 5A. Available at a starting price of 4,999, Xiaomi Redmi 5A comes with a 5-inch HD display. It runs on MIUI 9 custom ROM and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 quad-core processor clocked at 1.4GHz and 2GB/3GB of RAM.

The smartphone features a 13-megapixel rear camera with f/2.2 aperture, Phase Detection Auto Focus (PDAF), and 5-element lens. It has a 5-megapixel selfie camera with Xiaomi's beautification filter.

Redmi 5A has dual-SIM support, along with a dedicated microSD card slot (expandable up to 128GB). The phone is powered by a 3,000mAh battery.
