Marco Marsala posted on a forum stating that he had deleted all the data on his servers including backups. Even his customers whose data was being managed on his systems was wiped clean because of a silly mistake. But now, it seems that the post was a lie.

Marsala confessed to Repubblica IT that the post was a publicity stunt for his company and no such data loss had actually taken place. While some were amused, others criticised the conduct. “The command that I mentioned in the article is harmless but it seems that almost no one has noticed “, said Marsala.

Marsala explained how he was implementing gurella marketing techniques to gather popularity for his startup. He also explained how he’d left clues in the post that would have explained that the story was a lie.
