HTC has been constantly teasing its yet to be announced flagship on Twitter. In the latest series of teasers, the company has posted an image of the front and rear cameras of its upcoming flagship with the following message, “World First, World Class, Front and Back. You’ll see. #powerof10”. This clearly suggests that the company’s upcoming flagship offering might feature new camera capabilities.
HTC has opted for a different approach this time around, as the company decided not to unveil its flagship smartphone for 2016 at the annual Mobile World Congress trade show in Barcelona. Rivals such as Samsung and LG have already unveiled their flagship offerings for 2016. Hence, it’ll be interesting to see what the Taiwanese manufacturer has in store this time to regain lost ground, as its last year’s flagship the One M9 fell kind of short of expectations.
Details regarding HTC’s flagship for 2016 are now more or less churning out on a daily basis. We’ve already seen leaked renders of the smartphone which suggest it will have a similar design to that of its predecessors, except for the chamfered edges and a home button for a fingerprint scanner. The photo also shows its rear UltraPixel camera with dual-LED flash. According to a prolific tipster Evan Blass aka @evleaks, HTC this time will be ditching the ‘One’ and the prefix ‘M’ and instead will be launching its next flagship with the moniker HTC 10. He also tweeted about the four colour options the upcoming flagship will be offered.

In terms of specifications, the smartphone will reportedly feature a 5.1-inch Quad HD display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor bundled with 4 GB of RAM, USB Type C and a 12-megapixel UltraPixel camera. The smartphone is expected to run the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow out-of-the-box with HTC Sense 8.0.
So far HTC hasn’t announced a launch date for the handset and is yet to start sending media invites. Though reports suggest an April 19 launch date, the same date seen in the display of the smartphone in the render images leaked earlier.
