Microsoft has updated its Office suite of apps on iOS with added features that make the most of newly introduced 3D Touch input method. With the update, Word, Excel and PowerPoint can be easily accessed via the ‘Peek’ and ‘Pop’ feature to launch these apps immediately or and open recent documents. 3D Touch integration also allows users to create or open documents, spreadsheets or PowerPoint slides straight from the home screen app icon.
“Today we are releasing new inking tools in Office for iPad and iPad Pro to make it easy to use your finger or Apple Pencil to work on documents, presentations, spreadsheets and notes,” wrote Microsoft on its Office blog.
In addition, the update also brings support for Apple Pencil with which users can ‘start inking in Office’ or make any comments on a document on the iPad Pro.
The other big upgrade includes the ability to use iOS 9’s feature spotlight search. This feature allows users to search for saved documents and files within documents.
Users can download the latest version of Word, Excel and PowerPoint for Phones and iPads on the App store for free. However, you’ll need an Office 365 subscription is required to fully unlock all the features.
