Pokemon, the cartoon series, made everyone crazy in 1984 and everyone wanted to be a trainer like Ash, travel the world and catch those pocket monsters.

Finally, people can actually live their dream with Pokemon Go -- an augmented reality game developed by software firm Niantic which spun off Google. Forget living the dream, the game has got people so excited that various oraganisations are hosting free pokewalks for all those who are Pokemon maniacs.

“The idea is to bring the whole culture of Pokemon together, where they can talk about related stuff and recreate their childhood memory” says Kunal Arora, co founder of Education Tree, a self-sustained youth organisation.

“It is amazing how people are actually going out in the streets to catch pokemons. At least this game provides fillip for young players to go out in contrast to them sitting at home playing other video games,” Tanmay Upneja, another member of the education tree added. He also claimed that the organisation was in talks with the Delhi government to arrange free WiFi hotspots for the walk scheduled on July 24 at Connaught Place. The walk is expected to start at 5 PM. Another event organising company, Say Global, is also expected to hold a Pokewalk at Connaught Place on the same day starting at 3.30 PM.

Players in Mumbai can also enjoy a Pokewalk. A group of friends created an event on Facebook to invite their other friends but soon more people joined the event. The group’s Facebook page claims that at least 3,000 people will join the walk and nearly 10,000 people have expressed their interest in the same.

“After Pokemon Go’s apk made it to the internet, we created an event to invite other friends to relive our childhood memory but now it is an event where everyone who loved pokemon wants to come” Tany Corleone Joseph, the group’s administrator on Facebook, said. The Pokewalk in Mumbai is slated on 23th July, 5pm onwards at Burger King at Churchgate, Bombay Ballard Estate.

Rumours also seem to point that Chennai, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad and Hyderabad will also have their own Pokewalks.
