Korean handset-maker Samsung is expected to launch its next Tizen smartphone in India - the Z2 - on Tuesday.
The company has sent out event invites hinting at the launch but the invite din’t directly hint at the device. Tizen is Samsung’s home-grown operating system which it uses on its wearables as well.
Like the last Z device, the Z2 is expected to be a budget device. Sources have hinted that the Z2 will in all likelihood sport a 1.5GHz quad-core processor paired with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of expandable storage. The budget phone is expected to come with a 3.97-inch display of WVGA resolution. In terms of optics, it will come with a five-megapixel rear-camera and a VGA (0.3MP) front camera. The device will draw power from a 1,500mAh battery and run on Tizen 2.4.
According to a video posted by SamMobile, the Z2 will support 4G. It will also have features like Ultra Data Saving Mode, My Money Transfer app and more, exclusively for Indian users. The video also shows that users would be able to adjust the flashlight intensity on the device.
The company had previously launched the Z3 smartphone in India which was priced at Rs 8,490. The Z3 comes with a 5-inch HD screen and runs Tizen 2.4 OS. It packs a 1.3GHz quad-core Spreadtrum processor and 1GB RAM. The phone also has 8GB of internal storage and supports microSD cards of up to 128GB in size.
In terms of optics, the Z3 sports a eight-meagapixel rear and a five-megapixel front camera. The phone also comes with selfie-enhancing features like Beauty Face Mode and Automatic Selfie. The Z3 draws power from a 2,600mAh battery.
