Sony's smartphone business has been having a rough ride for quite some time. Earlier, the company was expected to replace the flagship lineup — the Z series — with a new X series. However, according to a Sony Xperia blog, the company may even replace these other two smartphone ranges — C and M — with the new X series.

A leaked slide of the company confirmed the speculation by stating that by the year 2018, the Z, M and C series smartphones will be replaced by the X range by 2018. The company is also preparing to aggressively advertise the x-shaped logo.

While the speculations float around, the first line of these devices have already been launched at MWC. The Xperia X Performance, Xperia X and the Xperia XA are the latest line of smartphones from the company. With the Z5 being the last of its series, the Xperia X Performance seems to have taken the lead.
