You rent out a room in your house only to find out that the tenant was using it to build a bomb. You get furious and kick them out. Twitter found itself in a similar situation in the middle of 2015. Since then, the social networking site has suspended 1,25,000 account primarily related to the ISIS. Twitter said, " We condemn the use of Twitter to promote terrorism and the Twitter Rules make it clear that this type of behaviour, or any violent threat, is not permitted on our service," on a blog post.

Twitter also said that they have increased the size of their team reviewing reports to increase the immediacy of action being taken. Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey among other employees haven't had their determination shaken even though various groups affiliated with ISIS have threatened to kill them and their family in repose to the accounts being suspended.

Taking the threats in their stride, Twitter has been working on smarter ways to battle these accounts. Since it would be impossible to screen all the accounts on Twitter, they have started applying pre-existing tools originally meant to weed out spammers for this purpose.

Twitter added, "As many experts and other companies have noted, there is no "magic algorithm" for identifying terrorist content on the internet, so global online platforms are forced to make challenging judgement calls based on very limited information and guidance. In spite of these challenges, we will continue to aggressively enforce our Rules in this area, and engage with authorities and other relevant organizations to find solutions to this critical issue and promote powerful counter-speech narratives."
