Xiaomi is all set to launch its latest flagship the Mi 5 today in India, nearly a month after it went on sale in China.
The smartphone was originally unveiled at the Mobile World Congress 2016 in Barcelona, and is primarily designed to impress with its top-of-the-line specs and gorgeous looking design at a relatively economical price point.
Which begs the question as to what will be the price of the smartphone?
We expect the device to get a starting price tag of Rs 20,000, as the 32 GB variant of the smartphone with 3 GB of RAM has been priced at Chinese Yuan 1999, which roughly translates to Rs 20,000 for the Indian market. The smartphone comes in three variants, though we are not sure if Xiaomi will launch all the three in India.
The most expensive of the lot -- the Mi 5 Pro is priced at Chinese Yuan 2699 (around Rs 28,000) comes with 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of built-in storage. The other two variants get the same 3 GB of RAM though one comes with 32 GB of built-in storage while the other gets 64 GB of storage and are priced Yuan 1999 (around Rs 20,000) and Yuan 2299 (Rs 24,000) respectively.
Other key specifications on the phone include a 5.15-inch Full HD display, a Snapdragon 820 processor, a 16-megapixel primary camera and a 4 Ultrapixel selfie cam. Juicing up the device is a 3,000 mAh battery with support for Qualcomm Quick charge 3.0. Connectivity options on the phone include USB Type C, VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and NFC.
We’ll be live at the Mi 5 launch event in New Delhi so watch this space for more details and updates from the event.
