Just days before the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona (February 25-28), the Mozilla Foundation has been giving developers more demonstrations of its mobile operating system Firefox OS. A definitive version could be presented to professionals in Spain, thus officially launching the project.

Mozilla demonstrated its first open mobile operating system at CES in Las Vegas at the beginning of January. The aim of the project, launched by the Mozilla Foundation in 2011 under the name "Boot to Gecko" (B2G), was to create an original open mobile operating system. Developers worked in a completely transparent manner by making the source code available in real time, for example. Firefox OS was entirely conceived in HTML 5.

However, Mozilla is not the only player that wants to compete with iOS and Android on mobile terminals. Canonical has unveiled its own project derived from Linux's famous Ubuntu. The two companies must now establish partnerships with manufacturers to distribute their solutions on a large scale.
