Apple has started selling a new version of its all-in-one iMacdesktop complete with a VESA mounting.

For the uninitiated, a VESA mounting, commonly found on the backs of large-screen televisions, is a universal bracket that makes fixing a device to the wall simple. And by offering
a VESA version of its computers, Apple is letting its consumers hang their Macs on the wall, where everyone can see them and where their ultrathin designs wall take up even less space.

However, Apple has also made it clear that while the mounting is built into the rear of the display, the accompanying wall-mounting bracket must be bought separately.

Currently only available in the UK Apple Store, prices for the stand-less iMac start at £1,135 for a 21.5-inch version, while the top specification A27-inch model retails for £1,735. US customers who fancy hanging their existing iMac on the wall can buy a VESA mount adapter for the iMac or for a Thunderbolt display direct from the US Apple Store for $39.
