Since Thursday, Google has been adding the feature to the web app's maps for US, Canada and Europe. The enhanced feature is expected to arrive soon to all of the other regions supported by the mapping.
Street View was launched by Google in 2007 to give users a panoramic view at street level around the world. Apple's iPhone added it to its main menu of apps in 2008. Today, the feature is available for Android, Blackberry and Windows Mobile.
The Street View library has been built up from images taken by Google Maps Camera Car, including streets and building facades.
Google has also added images of remote places such as Antarctica and NASA's Kennedy Space Center as well as allowing private businesses to showcase their hotels and shopping centers.
Street View also includes images of cultural sites such as museums and Mayan pyramids. The company recently added underwater images of the Great Barrier Reef in Australia, the Apo Islands in the Philippines and Hawaii Islands.
