Yahoo India facing charges of "misleading Indian culture and generation" by allegedly hosting objectionable content on its website refuted the allegations terming them as "motivated" and "complete abuse of the process of law."
"The present suit is not only motivated but also a
complete abuse of the process of law," the company told a Delhi lower court in a written submission.

Emphasising that it is "primarily a content portal offering e-mail and messenger communication services but not offering features, generally associated with social networking websites," Yahoo India said "the generalised social evils alleged against some of the prominent social networking websites cannot be fastened on to it."

It also called "false and incorrect" the allegation that "it is a social networking website and its directors, agents, employees and all persons or legal persons are helping it to mislead the culture and generation of India."

Yahoo also claimed the plaint suffered from "total misappreciation of the manner of working of the Internet and the world-wide-web and the law applicable ... and that the plaintiff (Mufti Quasmi) has shown a cavalier disregard to the same."
