Steve Jobs is no more. But he left his legacy immortal. From Mac to digital animation, to the iDevices, he is in every man's heart and house, today.
Apple on Wednesday turned its home page into a tribute to co-founder Steve Jobs, posting a large black-and-white photo of the company's visionary leader after the announcement of his death at age 56.

The photo shows Jobs in his trademark black turtleneck and small round
glasses. The only caption to the photo is "Steve Jobs, 1955-2011."

When a user clicks on the photo, they are taken to a message from new Apple CEO Tim Cook about Jobs, who died after a long battle with cancer.

"Apple has lost a visionary and creative genius, and the world has lost an amazing human being. Those of us who have been fortunate enough to know and work with Steve have lost a dear friend and an inspiring mentor," it said.

"Steve leaves behind a company that only he could have built, and his spirit will forever be the foundation of Apple."

Apple fans are invited to share their thoughts, memories and condolences by sending messages to rememberingsteve@apple.com.

The rest of the website, including Apple's online store, remained accessible.
