With the Wii U launching in North America on November 18, Nintendo is determined to provide a wide selection of games from the start, and its launch roster contains titles for families and children, party nights, sports fans, and action-oriented audiences, from New Super Mario Bros. U and
Nintendo Land to Call of Duty: Black Ops II and ZombiU.

Many games on Wii U will be designed to make use of its touchscreen GamePad; those already available on other platforms, such as Just Dance 4, Skylanders Giants and Mass Effect 3 will be altered to show extra information on that controller screen -- dance moves, player stats, level maps and so on.

Built into the Wii U will be a social networking system, through which players can swap messages and help each other out with games, a TV streaming channel called TVii, and a route to the online eShop which will contain games available for download.

According to North American retailer GameStop, which had already sold out of its initial shipment of 500,000 Wii U consoles, most people are buying at least two games for their new systems.

Popular titles with the pre-order crowd include New Super Mario Bros. U, Scribblenauts Unlimited, Assassin's Creed III, Call of Duty: Black Ops II and ZombiU.

The Nintendo Wii U launches in European and Australian regions on November 30 and in Japan on December 8. Microsoft and PlayStation are expected to announce a new Xbox and PlayStation respectively in 2013.
