The fifth game of detective skill and puzzle solving in the Professor Layton series, Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask, will be coming to the 3DS in North America this November, with a European expedition arriving even earlier, in October. Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask is the
first Layton made exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS, all the others having been developed for its predecessor, the DS, while remaining playable on the 3DS.

It takes place smack bang in the middle of the series' second trilogy, delving into the mysterious past of the English Prof and his young apprentice Luke.

Just as with Japan's February 2011 release, both North American and European versions benefit from a year's worth of daily downloadable puzzles to compliment the 150 already included in the game.

Building on the popularity of the Nintendo published, Level-5 developed Layton series, Sega has overseen the development of another European-oriented title Rhythm Thief & The Emperor's Treasure (aka Rhythm Thief & Les mystères de Paris), while Konami came up with the knowing Layton spoof Doctor Lautrec and the Forgotten Knights, also based in Paris.
