Robotic toff Sir Hammerlock will be the thematic custodian of Borderlands 2's third expansion pack, according to fans on the game's official forums, thanks to an inspection of files contained in the title's latest update.
The core game itself was released on Xbox 360, PC and
PlayStation 3 in late September, supported by extra tranches of content that landed mid-October and November.

Captain Scarlett and Her Pirate's Booty introduced a new character to intrepid gunsmiths and Mr. Torgue's Campaign of Carnage put a face to the name of a weapons manufacturing boss prominent in Borderlands 2 and its predecessor; players already know the central fixture from Sir Hammerlock's Big Game Hunt, being as he was the first friendly humanoid resident to greet them on their return to Pandora not so long ago.

Four expansions have been promised as part of the Borderlands 2 Season Pass deal. Should they continue to be released at a rate of one a month, publisher 2K Games will have time to clear the decks before launching another colorful shooter, BioShock Infinite, in March, amid competition from fellow action games Tomb Raider, Gears of War: Judgement and an Army of Two sequel.
