Respawn's community manager Abbie Heppe was on hand at the EB Games Expo to present "Titanfall," which had already been prononuced the event's Game of the Show.

Pre-cut videos and trailers explained how the game differentiates itself from the competition -- its co-founders having created the "Call of Duty" franchise -- while Abbie offered some tips for first-time players.

The game blends large scale combat, as hulking walking tanks clash, with the speed and fluidity of infantry movement, swarms of players clambering through, over and around any obstacles in their way.

"One of the cool things that people don't realise when they first start to play the game is that wallrunning ability chains [successively]," she said, talking about the way that infantry can run along the sides of buildings and leap from wall to wall.

"You'll pick up speed and momentum as you do it, and your double-jump resets every time you hit a new wall," she continued. "It gives you a lot of possibilities for attacking from all angles, vertically, and sneaking up on people."

"One of the things we've tried really hard to do in 'Titanfall' is make it easy for the hardcore gamer to months and months of unlocking things and progressing in the game, but also if the [first-person shooter] genre isn't your thing, it's easy to pick it up, play it, and do all the cool things that we've shown you."

"In the studio we call it 'a minute to learn, a lifetime to master.'"

"Titanfall" is being promoted as a Microsoft exclusive, set for Xbox One, Xbox 360 and Windows PCs, due sometime in 2014.
