The latest mobile web traffic data shows that the two brands account for 63 percent of all use.

Apple's iPhones account for 46 percent of all mobile web traffic in the US and Canada, making it the leading smartphone device in the region. According to the latest data published in
the US by Chitika Insights on Wednesday, the iPhone 5 alone currently accounts for 3 percent of total traffic, despite only going on sale on September 21, compared with 2 percent for its closest direct competitor, the Samsung Galaxy S3 (launched in June). Samsung's total share of web traffic is 17 percent, with the remaining 37 percent made up of all other smartphones. Chitika gathered the data by monitoring mobile ad impressions on its networks spanning a 7-day time frame from October 3rd to October 9.

It will be interesting to see how the upcoming launch of Nexus-branded handsets from LG and the rumored release of a similar Sony device will affect these figures, but for now it's clear that in the US market at least, Apple and Samsung have built up a huge lead over their competitors.
