LG has unveiled its highly anticipated top-end smartphone, the Optimus G, on August 28 - just days before consumer electronics fair IFA in Berlin. Rumors and leaks have been surrounding LG's Optimus G for several weeks, but on August 28 the company finally revealed the full specs before
the phone arrives in Korea next month.

The Optimus G boasts a 4.7 inch WXGA True HD (1280 x 768) IPS LCD display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro Processor with 1.5GHz Quad-Core CPU, 2GB of RAM, a 13 MP rear facing and 1.3 MP front facing camera, runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and is only 8mm thick.

LG claims that it is the first commercial smartphone to offer the Snapdragon S4 Pro (APQ8064) processor with Quad-Core Krait CPU LTE capabilities and the newest Adreno 320 GPU.

The device will hit Korea in September before being rolled out to other markets around the world, though more details on pricing and release dates are expected to be announced at IFA.

Other highly anticipated announcements at this year's IFA include Samsung's tablet / smartphone hybrid, the Galaxy Note II,  and Sony's next-gen high-end smartphone the Xperia SL.
