Facebook disactivates tool for finding friends

After making its new Find Friends Nearby function public on Sunday, Facebook disactivated the service Monday. Website TechCrunch revealed on Sunday that Facebook had put into service a tool on both its website and mobile appliactions that would allow users to see a list of members from
their group of friends who were also connected and in the same geographic area.

A company called Friendthem, which offers a mobile service allowing users to locate Facebook friends who are geographically close by, has threatened to take legal action against the social networking giant, according to tech website Mashable.

FFN (for Find Friends Nearby) is no longer available.

Friendthem can be downloaded for iOS or Android: friendthem.com
