Google has released yet another version of its Google+ app for iOS users. The latest iteration switches the focus from text-based content to the photos and images contained within a user’s posts.

The updated application features a new design that makes the most of the smartphone’s touchscreen
real estate and high resolution screen.

“Full-bleed photos and videos are cool. But you know what’s really cool? Content so immersive it remakes your mobile device into a rich carousel of beloved memories and breaking news. That’s the Google+ experience we aspire to, and today’s release helps us get closer,” said Vic Gundotra, Senior Vice President of Engineering at Google in a grandiloquent blog post.

Additional features within the new app include crisper fonts, speed improvements, larger profile pics, a redesigned home screen and an easier-to-scan stream.

“The end result—we hope—is an app that brings you closer to the people you care about, and the stuff you’re into; an app with sense and soul,” penned Gundotra.

Google+ users have been quick to download the app and comment, “Wow, the new G+ iPhone client is certainly different!”, “Love the new #iOS +Google+ application!” and “it is a vast improvement on the previous version visually.”

The iOS version of Google+ is available for download now. Android users will have to wait for a few weeks until they can get their hands on the redesigned app. While some Android users are frustrated by the wait, Google has promised the Android version will contain “a few extra surprises.”
