Destiny, the new game from Halo creator Bungie, has a new piece of official artwork to stoke the imaginations of fans and newcomers, and it seems that futuristic snowscapes are order of the day. Or at least, snowy capes.

The reveal came in response to images and quotes posted by
IGN that were said to have come from a dossier prepared by an advertising agency.

Those quotes offer some illumination upon Destiny's story, one set seven hundred years in the future after the apparent collapse of civilization.

"A massive, mysterious alien ship hangs overhead like a second Moon. No one knows where it came from or what it's here for, but only that it's our protector. Meanwhile, strange, alien monsters creep in from the edge of the universe, determined to take Earth and the Last City."

It's not the first leak to befall Bungie's secretive project this year, either.

Legal proceedings between Bungie's new publisher Activision and the founders of Call of Duty studio Infinity Ward meant that key Destiny documents were brought into the public sphere back in May.

That contract between studio and publisher detailed a big money four-game series schedule, with each new title backed by an expansion the following year.

Destiny's intended launch on both the current Xbox 360 and its successor in fall 2013 lent credence to speculation that marked Microsoft's new console for a 2013 reveal and retail debut; Sony's PS3, a future PlayStation console, and Windows PC were also identified as appropriate platforms for the game.
