Tech agenda: Samsung, Sony and Apple events

September kicks off with a slew of new high-tech product launches including the Samsung Galaxy Gear, the company's long-awaited smartwatch but the big event of the month looks set to be the unveiling of the next-generation iPhone, expected on September 10.

The South Korean tech company is hosting a special event in Berlin to reveal its latest phablet and smartwatch to the world. The Samsung Galaxy Note III is expected to boast a pocket-bursting 6-inch screen and capture video in ultra-high definition while the Galaxy Gear smartwatch is expected to be less of a technological milestone -- only syncing with other Samsung devices -- and more of a high-tech fashion statement.

Sony Xperia Z1 press launch

Not to be outdone by one of its biggest rivals, Sony is also debuting its latest flagship phone ahead of the IFA consumer electronics conference.
