Here are five recent love-themed video games that encompass an online, interactive poem and are one of 2013’s biggest releases.

A Kiss (browser)
As much poetic short story as it is a game, it allows players to choose their path through a branching and looping description of a kiss, its context, participants, memories and future.

Gone Home (Mac, WinPC, Linux)
Returning after a year away, Kait discovers that her family has vanished. As Kait, you set about exploring the house, rifling through old possessions for clues, and find out what happened to her parents and younger sister.

Deadly Premonition: Director’s Cut (360, PS3, WinPC)
Investigate mysterious killings in the unhinged town of Greenvale as detective Francis York Morgan in the company of emerging love interest, deputy sheriff Emily Wyatt, and a selection of weird inhabitants. The Director’s Cut adds a longer ending and recasts the 2010 game as an oddball bedtime story. (fan site)
Grand Theft Auto V (PS3, 360) Love in a time of shooting and looting? You better believe it, as one of three leading protagonists, Franklin Clinton, spends the narrative arc attempting to reconcile himself to ex-girlfriend Tanisha, while she can’t accept his criminal activities.
