Let the iPhone phablet and 'iWatch' rumors commence in earnest. Apple has announced that its annual World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC) is this year scheduled for June 2.

An event that is meant to be for programmers and app developers, it usually serves as the stage where the company showcases upcoming tweaks, improvements and innovations to its operating systems -- be it for desktop or mobile.

However, in recent years it has also become the event where Apple has chosen to unveil hardware too.

Apple is giving nothing away, other than confirming that this year's WWDC will be focused on the future of OSX and iOS.

Still reports persist that the iPhone 6 will be going into limited production in May, suggesting that it could make an official appearance at the show.

But, as the iPhone 5S was only launched in September, if Apple does plan to launch hardware it could very well be the now-mythical 'iWatch,' the company's first step into the wearable technology market. Or, a completely overhauled Apple TV set-top box. But that's nowhere near as exciting.
