Amazon Kindle Fire
Amazon’s first multimedia tablet, the Kindle Fire, was the fastest rising consumer electronics product on Google Search in 2011. It triumphed over Apple’s iPhone 4S and T-Mobile’s Sidekick 4G smartphones according to a ranking released as part of Google’s annual Zeitgeist summary.

Smartphones and tablets were the search flavors of the year -- the majority of most searches for gadgets on Google were for newly released Android smartphones and tablets such as the (now defunct) HP Touchpad and Apple's iPad.

Popular 3D mobile user interface SPB Shell 3D made it into this year’s list as consumers searched for ways to replace their default homescreen with an interactive 3D interface.

The software makes it easy to access your favorite widgets, contacts and apps with just a swipe of a finger.

Eager to get their hands on the latest gadgets, people also started searching for the unreleased iPad 3 and the Samsung Nexus Prime (aka the Samsung Galaxy Nexus) in 2011.

The iPad 3 is rumored to be arriving in store sometime during the first three months of 2012 and the Samsung Galaxy Nexus -- the first smartphone to run Google’s Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich software -- is only just starting to make its way into stores.

The codename for soon-to-be-released Sony’s PlayStation Vita, the Sony NGP (short for Next Generation Playstation), was the only game console to make it into Google’s top ten consumer electronics terms in 2011.

On Microsoft’s search engine Bing, the Xbox game console topped the list of consumer electronics searches in the US for 2011. The Sony PlayStation and the Nintendo Wii also made it into the most searched for consumer electronics products ranking in third and sixth places.
