Nikon D3200
High-tech product releases announced the week ending April 26 include Nikon’s new D3200 DSLR, Sony’s flagship BDP-S790, the HTC One X smartphone, a compact projector for travelers, and an eco-friendly smartphone.

An entry-level DSLR that’s easy to use and sports enhanced video features
Nikon’s newest entry-level D3200 DSLR camera is built with photo enthusiasts in mind. It resembles Nikon’s popular D3100 but features additional options, enhanced video features and support for the WU-1a Wireless Mobile Adapter, which enables you to wirelessly send images to mobile devices and control the camera remotely. It features a 24.2 MP DX-format CMOS sensor, Full HD (1080p) video recording and a 4 frames-per-second (fps) high-speed continuous shooting mode. The Nikon D3200 with the AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR image stabilization lens will start shipping in late April for $699.95. The optional WU-1a Wireless Mobile Adapter will be available in late May for $59.95.

A flagship Blu-ray player with built-in 4K upscaling and dual-core processor
Sony’s 3D BDP-S790 Blu-ray player features built-in WiFi, a dual-core processor and 4K upscaling (which might not mean much now, but when 4K displays become the norm you’ll be able to watch content at ultra-high resolutions of 4096 x 2160p, which is more than 4X that of most current HDTVs.) The Blu-ray player also offers DLNA, PC streaming, and access to online content via Netflix, Amazon Instant Video, Pandora, Twitter and Facebook. The BDP-S790 can be pre-ordered now and will be available in store on May 6 for $249.

A superphone with a giant HD display and ImageSense technology
The HTC One X is the first phone to run HTC’s camera-improving ImageSense technology, enabling users to capture images in just 0.7 seconds, and to simultaneously shoot photos and videos. It has a HD 4.7” display, a 1.5GHz quad-core processor, 8MP and 1.3MP cameras, Beats Audio, 32GB of storage, 4G LTE connectivity, NFC, DLNA for wireless streaming, a 1,800mAh battery, and runs Android 4.0 ICS with the customized HTC Sense 4 skin. The HTC One X will be available from May 4 for $199.99 on a two-year contract.

A projector for frequent travelers
Acer’s K130 is a compact projector for people on the move who want a lightweight, 3D-ready device. It features a native resolution of 1280x800, weighs in at 500g and measures 140 x 116 x 41mm (about half the size of an A4 sheet of paper). It sports USB and HDMI ports as well as an SD card reader. The K130 is available now and priced at $499.99.

An eco-friendly smartphone that’s light on the wallet
The LG Optimus Elite is a smartphone for Android users who are concerned about the environment. It is the successor to the company’s popular Optimus S smartphone. The casing is made out of 50 percent recycled plastic and the device meets the tough ULE Platinum standard. While its eco-credentials check out its tech specs are somewhat lacking: the device runs on an older version of Android (version 2.3), has a 3.5-inch touchscreen with a low resolution of 480 x 320, 3G connectivity, an 800MHz single-core processor, NFC and a 5MP rear-facing camera. The LG Optimus Elite is available now for $29.99 on a two-year contract.
