LittleBigPlanet, the game that helped pioneer PlayStation's "Play, Create, Share" motto, is to launch on PlayStation Vita on September 19 in Europe, September 20 in Japan, and September 25 in North America.

Sackboy and his clothy friends return, but this time to Carnivalia which, though a playground of festival fun, is nonetheless in need of a good dose of rescue potion.

Intact is the same "Play, Create, Share" philosophy -- which requires the presence of a relatively intuitive level editing and creation suite, and the ability to share it with other players regardless of location -- but further enhanced by the PlayStation Vita's portability.

Other recent console titles to employ similar concepts include Infamous 2 and Joe Danger, Scribblenauts, Trials: Evolution, Kinect Fun Labs and the Halo series on Xbox 360 and, before the current generation of games machines, the Timesplitters series.

It's an adaptation of PC gaming's proud modifying tradition, which can be seen today in a variety of forms, such as the many custom add-ons for Minecraft, the abundant user-created levels for Happy Wheels and speed racer Trackmania 2: Canyon, and in the Steam Workshop platform that's easing the augmentation process for games like Skyrim, Portal 2, Civilization V and Dungeon Defenders.
