French company Wysips will present an entirely functional smartphone with a solar component beneath the screen that provides it with enough energy to ensure the phone is permanently charged.
Wysips (What You See Is Photovoltaïc Surface) has created a component that allows any surface
to produce solar energy without changing how it looks. This solution is based on the superimposition of semi-cylindrical lenses onto photovoltaic cells.

The optical effect produced makes it possible to use natural or artificial light to produce electricity. This technology helps reduce battery size and increase the phone's autonomy while providing a permanent source of energy. It can be used on all types of screens (mobile phones, tablets, e-readers, etc.).

In an attempt to raise the profile of the technology, an entirely functional smartphone powered by the component beneath the screen will be presented at the MWC in Barcelona, February 25-28.

Wysips is hoping to sign license agreements with the world's largest mobile phone companies for the component to be used in smartphones by the end of the year.
