Anurag Kashyap is known for his realistic brand of cinema and now the film-maker is taking it a step further by joining hands with an international campaign to fight human trafficking and exploitation. Anurag will soon be seen on a show called Traffic, which will create awareness among the youth about the serious issue of trafficking in India.
A source says, “The show will feature five short films which are based on various aspects of human trafficking from domestic servitude, forced marriage, being sold into prostitution, enslavement in a foreign land, organ trafficking and bonded labour, among others. Anurag has not only produced these films but will also be an anchor on the show to provide perspective to the audience.”
Each film will be 30 minutes long and will focus on the real-life story of five people who went through the nightmare. The show will air by the end of February.
Talking about the show and the concept, film-maker Anurag says, “Traffic as a concept is extremely close to my heart. It is an eye-opener for the audience, especially the youth who are blissfully unaware of the atrocities that thousands of people go through.” He further adds, “We see these things happening around us but it’s high time we stop giving it a blind eye. It's time we take a stand and act to put an end to it.”
