Reality show, Bigg Boss, known for courting trouble with every season, is back sooner than expected with its seventh edition this year. Instead of the usual launch in October, the channel plans to advance the show by a few weeks. It is tentatively scheduled to go on air in September.
And therefore the search for the right kind of contestants is currently on.
The show will be hosted by Salman Khan this year as well. Going by the previous celebrities from earlier seasons, the makers have approached some names this year as well. Earlier participants included Rakhi Sawant, Raja Chaudhary, Rahul Mahajan, Kamaal Rashid Khan, Sambhavana Sheth, Dolly Bindra and Sunny Leone. Last season, designer Imam Siddique led the controversy brigade.
‘I wasn’t mentally ready for it’
Says TV actor Aishwarya Sakhuja who turned down the offer to be on a popular reality show
This year, the makers of Bigg Boss have approached several celebrities in the television industry. And one of them is Aishwarya Sakhuja, who currently hosts a dance reality show.
“The production house gave me a call for the show. I was not surprised or shocked as last year too I had received an offer,” she says.
However, the actor turned down the opportunity as she feels that being on the controversial reality series is not her cup of tea. “Bigg Boss is a very big show and being approached means people want to see you. Having said that, I wasn’t mentally ready for it, as one needs to be emotionally very strong. I am not; I can cry at the drop of a hat and I didn’t want to be seen on national TV as a cry baby,” she admits.
Other TV actors who were offered a chance to be on the show include Farhan Khan and Arvind Kumar. Farhan debuted in TV show Chhanchhan but soon quit it, apparently due to lack of chemistry with his co-star, Sanaya Irani. While he has also turned down the offer to be on the show, Arvind is yet to take a decision. The latter wowed the audiences with his dance moves in Nach Baliye Season 5 with his wife Neelu Vaghela, who plays Bhabhoo in Diya Aur Baati Hum.
Apart from TV actors, a few celebrity publicists have also been approached by the makers, perhaps in the hope that they might spill the beans on their star clients on the show.
