Multitasking is a tough job, but essaying roles with a huge age difference is tougher. Hiten Tejwani, who plays the role of a grandfather on the TV show Pavitra Rishta, will soon be seen essaying the character of a college student in a film.
Talking about the two roles, Hiten says, “On TV, one hardly gets opportunities to experiment. It was fun to play a role other than Manav (his character on PR) from my serial. In the film, I play a young guy and then a grown-up as well. One has to play both roles convincingly. The audiences don’t connect with the role if you haven’t given in your best. I’m glad to be able to dabble in both mediums."
In the serial, his mannerisms are mature as opposed to the carefree style he will be seen projecting in Agnidev Chatterjee’s film, Tera Aane Se. “I had to lose weight to look like a collegian. The part is set in the ’80s, so Rajesh Khanna’s hair style was an inspiration.”
The film is a romantic thriller about three friends who share a common past. Hiten has shot some sequences in Shimla and Agra and will shoot the rest in Delhi, Manali and Nashik.
He adds, “A leap is going to happen soon in PR, and I might have an even more mature look. I have never shied away from looking old or playing older roles on TV, since I feel my audiences know the real me, so why not have fun with roles that are not me."
