He is known for fiction shows like Krishna Arjun and Kumkum, among others, and hosting several shows including Khullja Sim Sim, Shabaash India and others.
But, Hussain Kuwajerwala
has been missing from the small screen for a while. He stayed away from the tube, since his Broadway-style show kept him busy for the past four years. Since he will soon be seen hosting a reality show, he talks to us about his present projects and his plans to return to acting. Do you prefer hosting to acting?
No, acting attracts me more, but I get more offers for the latter. If I take up a daily soap today, I won’t be able to do my musical, and I didn’t want that. Hosting a show doesn’t need much time, so I can manage both. I do have acting offers that I am considering. What do you enjoy more, shooting for TV or live performances?
I miss being on TV, and acting more than anything else. While I did get to interact with my fans there, nothing compares to the live feedback from audiences in a theatre. That is a different high. Even the rehearsals of my Broadway show were much more fun. It is still going strong and has crossed 1,300 shows. Your debut film didn’t work out. In hindsight, do you think it was the wrong choice?
Not really. We felt it was the right project to do. It didn’t do well, but one learns from mistakes and so did we. Next time, I will be more careful in choosing projects. On the personal front, are you and your wife, Tina, looking to start a family?
Yes. My mom, mother-in-law and aunts always keep talking about it. It’s on the card, but I don’t know when. We have been discussing this for a long time.
