In his new film, Jon Hamm plays an American sports agent who comes to India to scout for talent. For its premiere, the actor is set to highlight the Indian connect by turning up in local attire.
An insider from the production house reveals that not just Hamm, but the entire cast of the film — including Lake Bell, Suraj Sharma Pitobash and Madhur Mittal — will sport Indian clothes at the Los Angeles premiere, ahead of the film’s May 16 release.
"Jon was excited by the idea and he requested for a Gujarati outfit. The others are keen on Lucknowi sherwanis," says the source. The women will pick ghaghras or south Indian silk saris.
The producers are also currently on the lookout for Indian designers who can create the clothes for the male as well as female actors.
"They’ve approached a couple of people, but no name has been finalised yet," says the source.
Besides the cast, even Million Dollar Arm’s director, Craig Gillespie, and producers Joe Roth, Mark Ciardi and Gordon Gray will be sporting Indian wear. "AR Rahman, who composed the original score for the film, will also attend the event," adds the source.
