It’s been only 10 days since the show went on air and the grapevines are buzzing that Megha Gupta, the hostess of Perfect Bride, is no longer part of the show. The actress, who debuted as a hostess on the seven-day-reality-show, shot for about three episodes before she went missing from the show. Vishal Malhotra was seen performing the ‘sutradhar’s’ job all alone.
“Megha didn’t turn up for rehearsals. She wouldn’t report for shoots despite being reminded time and again. She would throw tantrums at the production unit and would behave rather unprofessionally. So, the search is on for another hostess.
Meanwhile, Vishal is manning the fort on his own,” says a source, from the channel on the condition of anonymity.
Anupama Mandloi from Star Plus’ creative team confirmed that things didn’t work out with Megha and she would no longer be seen on the show. However, Mandloi didn’t speak up on the ‘things that didn’t work.’
When contacted, Megha Gupta, who once did Nach Baliye for the Star group, confirmed her exit from the show. But she was in for a shock when asked about the allegations made by the channel insiders.
“No one would ever want to work with an artiste who throws tantrums. If they had a problem with me, they wouldn’t have approached me to debut as host on their show. We had plenty of negotiations because we had different ideas. They thought east and I thought west,” she says with a shrug.
On being prodded, Gupta says, “I don’t want to wash dirty linen in public. If some channel insider calls me an unprofessional person, he or she wants publicity for the show at my cost. No one that I’ve worked with has ever felt that I was being unprofessional or making unreasonable demands.”
When pointed out that she would often remain absent from rehearsals, she says: “As a debutant, I think I needed the rehearsals the most. So why would I abscond from the shoot? I know I’m not the bad apple. So, it doesn’t matter who says what.”
