TV actor Ratan Rajput gained popularity playing a village girl when she took up the show, Agle Janam Mohe Bitiya Hi Kijo. The image seems to have stuck on, but now Ratan might get a break from that stereotype with her upcoming supernatural thriller show in which she’s playing a grey character.
Talking about her challenging character, Ratan says, “While the role has negative shades, it’s not exactly negative. This role is a risk and a challenge for me, and that’s what urged me to take it up. Usually, people get scared. I am not scared of rejection or acceptance [from the audience]."
Though the show targets the youth, and is diametrically opposite to her current image, Ratan denies looking for a change. “I don’t believe in breaking an image but in building one," she says.
About the statement she made last year, saying she regretted participating in the reality show hosted by Salman Khan, has she changed her mind now? "I wouldn’t say I regret it, but I’ve learnt a lot from being in the house. Now, I only remember the good stuff. I still can’t believe I took it up. In fact, it was easier for me to agree doing the show Swayamvar than this show."
And talking about Swayamvar Season 3 — Ratan Ka Rishta, her relationship with winner Abhinav Sharma didn’t hold up, as they broke up a year after the show. Ratan has put the episode behind her, but she recalls the experience, saying, "It might have been a show for people, but for me it was my life. We were together for a year but I’m single now."
She doesn’t want conjecture about what went wrong and adds, "He’s a nice guy, but at times there are certain things that don’t work out. It isn’t fair to blame one person for the failure of a relationship."
