He displayed his dancing skills by winning Dance India Dance Li’l Masters last year, but 15-year-old Faisal Khan will soon be showing his acting skills in a TV show. Faisal will be essaying the role of the young Maharana Pratap in an upcoming historical TV show of the same name.
Ask him why he switched from dancing to acting, and Faisal says, “I follow the example of Hrithik Roshan who is a great dancer and actor. If he can do it, so can I.”
Since this is his first acting endeavour, Faisal is facing a lot of good and bad experiences while shooting for the show. As per the requirements of his character, the youngster has been learning to handle the sword and is taking lessons in sword fighting. But it is the horse riding that he enjoys and looks forward to the most. However, Faisal is quick to add that he considers shooting in the gruelling heat of Mumbai as the most taxing.
Ask him about his experience so far and he says, “I love the dialogues my character has been given, but I get stuck with the heavy-duty ones. There was one long sentence that I was stuck on for the longest time.” He adds that initially, his shy behaviour made it difficult for him to perform. “I was thinking how I would go about it, but the director supported me. He advised me to rehearse at least 10 times and then give a good take. Gradually, my confidence increased. However,Due to copyright issues, actor will not use an iconic Mohd Rafi song in his next film I feel this (show) is the beginning for me.”
