Rarely ever does one get to hear a man admitting that he is dependent on his wife for everything. But leaving aside all that so called ‘male ego’, actor Apurva Agnihotri took us by surprise when he said that he is so dependent on his wife Shilpa that her absence made him lose interest in the TV reality show, Bigg Boss.
“I became extremely homesick after Shilpa left the house. I’m a henpecked husband. I rely on my wife for everything. She decides what I should wear, what I should eat... sab kuch! I started missing her positive energy around me,” says the 40-year-old. Shilpa was evicted from the Colors’ show a couple of weeks back.
Apurva, who debuted with Subhash Ghai’s Pardes (1997), and later became popular with his role as the charming boss in Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin on TV, was often criticised on the show for not taking a stand. “In this show small things get blown out of proportion. Say for instance, kisine apna cup nahin dhoya uspe jhagra shuru. Toh main chup chap woh cup dho deta tha. I’d take a stand at something that’s worth it, not for such silly things in life,” says Apurva, who’s confident that ousted contestant Kushal Tandon will be back to the house.
“He should not just come back but should win the show. That boy had the balls for standing up for what he believes, irrespective of the consequences.” So does he support Kushal on what he did? “Of course I do. If Andy behaved like that (the way he did with contestant Gauhar Khan) with Shilpa, I, too, would have been mad at Andy,” says Apurva.
