Sania Mirza and her Swiss partner Martina Hingis extended their winning streak to 32 to advance to the third round of the Australian Open women’s doubles on Saturday.
The top-seeded Indo-Swiss duo, who clinched their 11th WTA title together, and second straight of this year, at the Sydney International last week, claimed a 6-2, 6-3 win over Ukrainian twin sisters Nadiia Kichenok and Lyudmyla Kichenok in a second round contest that lasted over an hour.
In the first set, Mirza and Hingis did not face a single break point and converted two out of their three opportunities to comfortably take the set 6-2.
In the second, the top seeds converted two out of the four break points they had, and got broken once, to take the set and the match.
Mirza and Hingis will next face Russian-Italian pair of Svetlana Kuznetsova and Roberta Vinci for a quarterfinal berth.
