Prakash loses in singles, makes up in doubles

On a mixed day for the Indians, Prakash Amritraj crashed out of the singles event but entered the doubles semifinal partnering Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi in the ATP Challenger tournament.

Prakash retired midway through his pre-quarterfinal match against Sergei Bubka of Ukraine bringing an end to India’s singles campaign. He was trailing 3-6, 2-4. But Prakash and Qureshi entered the semifinal beating Bubka and his Russian partner A Kudryavtsev 6-3, 7-6 (3).
