India's Leander Paes and Switzerland's Martina Hingis beat top-seeded American duo of Mike Bryan and Bethanie Mattek-Sands 6-3, 6-4 on Friday to enter the mixed doubles final of The Wimbledon Championships.
Paes is now one win away from his 16th Major trophy. Paes is a winner of eight men's doubles Grand Slam titles and seven mixed doubles titles.
After teaming with Sania Mirza to beat 5th-seeded Americans Abigail Spears and Raquel Kops-Jones in the women's doubles semi-finals, Hingis returned to the court a few hours later to team up with Paes to beat Bryan and Mattek-Sands.
Paes and Hingis, who won the Australian Open early this year, saved all three break points and broke their rivals four times in the 56-minute-long semifinal.
Though both pairs earned six chances each in the match, it was Paes and Hingis who converted thrice to their opponents' one, which proved to be the difference. Overall, the Indo-Swiss pair won 73 of the 134 points played.
