UGC asks universities to refund fees to students who migrated to other colleges

University Grants Commission directed the Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) to refund the fees of those students who migrated to other institutions

The notification was issued after UGC received complaints from aggrieved students seeking a refund of fees paid to the institutes after migrating to different institutions. (HT file)

Panchkula man who couldn’t travel due to Kerala floods awarded full refund

The consumer commission has directed Gurugram based Travel Triangle Private Limited, and Panchkula based MM Travel Company and Life Leisure Trip Company, to refund ₹26,700 to Naresh Garg, 54, of Sector 10, Panchkula, along with 9% interest and ₹5,500 as litigation charges

Chandigarh: Female army aspirant gets 60,000 relief from consumer court

The 25-year-old Mohali resident, Anchal Jain, filed a case against M/S Olive Greens Institute, Chandigarh, its director and two trainers; She had enrolled in the institute for a two-week course, which was to be taught by a retired army officer and as per the norms of the SSB

The army aspirant suffered multiple fractures in her right ankle because of lack of safety equipment, such as proper cushioning.
