Kasab was the lone survivor of the 10-member Lashkar-e-Taiba team that carried out the 2008 Mumbai attacks. He was hanged days before the fourth anniversary of the assault on India’s financial hub that killed 166 people. A resident of Faridkot village in Pakistan’s Punjab province, Kasab became the face associated with the attacks after photos of him rampaging through Mumbai ‘s Chhatrapati Shivaji railway station with an AK-47 rifle were published round the world. Pakistan’s national security advisor was sacked after he acknowledged Kasab as a Pakistani national.
