Ganga Cleaning

Flowing through some of the most densely populated areas in the northern belt of India, the Ganga provides water to almost 40% of the country’s population in 11 states. The Centre launched the Namani Ganga project in July 2014 to clean the what is considered the fifth most polluted river in the world. With an initial allocation of Rs 2,037 crore for the project, the government aims to spend up to Rs 20,000 crore in the next five years.
