Ousted Scuderia Toro Rosso driver Sebatien Buemi is planning to race at the 24 Hours of Le Mans before making a bid for a race seat with Red Bull Racing in 2013 should Mark Webber's contract is not renewed. The Swiss driver told Le Matin newspaper that it was the "logical continuation" of his three-year career with Toro Rosso.

Twenty-three-year-old Sebastien Buemi joined Toro Rosso in 2009 following Sebastian Vettel's graduation from the Red Bull junior team at the end of the 2008 season. Buemi was abruptly dropped from the Toro Rosso team along with Spanish teammate Jaime Alguersuari last December and replaced by France's Jules Vergne and Australia's Daniel Ricciardo.

Buemi was, however, handed a lifeline from Red Bull and named as the official test and reserve driver for both Toro Rosso and Red Bull Racing. Ricciardo has been rumored to be the driver most likely to take over 35-year-old Webber's seat at Red Bull at 2013 if he is not retained by the team.
