For Kimpton Hotels, US,however, the mobile accessory serves as a marketing opportunity. Guests staying at Kimpton Hotels can now borrow selfie sticks at the front desk to take with them as they visit local sites as part of a PR campaign aimed at strengthening the chain’s presence on social media channels such as Instagram and Twitter.
The overall aim? That guests will play into their strategy, and post photos of themselves using the hashtag #AdoreThySelfie, for the chance to win prizes like their own selfie stick and Kimpton gift cards.
A similar strategy has been seen at hotels like the InterContinental, Canada, where guests can borrow a selfie stick for a day. The Dorchester Collection’s UK properties also loan out branded selfie sticks at The Dorchester, 45 Park Lane and Coworth Park.
